Friday, March 28, was a beautiful sunny early spring day with a couple of feet of snow still lying around. Edges of lawns were showing, roads and driveways were dry and clear and there was a cool breeze every now and then. I had agreed to help my brother pickup and deliver a load of hardwood flooring from Brampton to his house in Newmarket. There were about 40 boxes of wood containing approx 25sq/ft in each box. This took about 3 hours, so by about 3:30 in the afternoon the job was done. Needless to say I got a bit warm during the unloading and took off my coat. I still had 2 layers on but I guess I overdid it and got a chill after.
On my way home after dinner, about 8pm I started to feel tired, you know that heady kind of tired where you have to just lie down for a bit so driving was a determined, concentrated endevor near the end. By the time I got home at 8:30pm all I wanted to do was go to bed. Low and behold I was in bed all weekend. Completely wiped out and achy with sore elbows and mucles. I wasn't hungry either but was drinking liquids. Satuday night decided to take some gravol so that I could eat something because I had this queesy feeling in my gut that makes you feel like you're going to puke but not. Had to take another on Sunday and the next couple of days as well.
By Monday I also started to have this tightness in the chest and shortness of breath if I exerted myself. On Wendsday April 2, I was ok to drive downtown to my Doctor's appointment which had been made well before I got sick. It was just to get a script and paperwork for labwork to be done later on. Now it also included this 'flu'. I was given a script for anti-biotics for my chest congestion as well but was told to give it a couple of days to see if it cleared up on it's own. Well, I gave it a week and started to take the meds on April 9, and with one day left of this course I am still congested and coughing up flem. Hopefully it will clear up by tomorrow so I don't have to go to the Doc again.
Before this bout of flu, I had been considering what to do with the rest of my life. I am on disability and have not had a steady job for a while. My health seems to go up and down and following this episode I wonder if there is any employer out there who would understand my health concerns and allow an employee to take off 3 weeks due to illness.
Most of the time my health is pretty good but it's not consistent. Yet when I do have good days I really want to be productive and get restless just sitting around. During the summer I landscape and do odd jobs for friends or family but it's not very profitable. Often I feel caught between a rock and a hard place regarding my financial situation, my inability to do what I would like to because of the lack of funds and feeling less than normal.
I decided instead that I would start to write this blog about my life and what I have realized and exprienced throughout my journey with regards to self, humanity, world events and my spritual journey towards enlightenment and the desire to become wise.
Hope you enjoyed the read. I'll be writing more once I get the hang of this and get all the relative info down on this page.
Peace, David
